Liam's Progress in Mandarin

Liam @ Poh Poh's Mandarin Class

Liam has been making good progress in mandarin. I was caught by surprise when Poh Poh decided to show us how much Liam had progressed in his mandarin.

Four months ago, he started using the word 'Thank You' in mandarin and now he has progressed to this :

Off to Underwater World!

We’re been doing the Ocean theme at Playshool for the last two months. Mummy and Daddy have also been showing me pictures of different sea creatures from picture books. But nothing beats the real thing! So mum and dad decided to bring me to underwater world to have a look at some real sea creatures!

page8Here we are at Underwater World. The tunnel was so fascinating. I could see everything!

page9We saw Sharks, Stingrays, Starfish, more sharks! Big fishes and small fishes and gigantic fishes!

page10Ahh the highlight of the trip! Watching the pink dolphins perform!

page11 It was really a fantastic trip! Thanks mommy and daddy! When are we going back again?

Oops caught in the act! Quick deny deny deny!

I told my first lie to mummy and daddy the other day. They had just finished cleaning me up for the evening and had left the water pail in an accessible location. Being lil curious me, of course I had to go take a look and try to reach for the water container even though they’ve told me many times not to touch it. As it was sitting on the table I had to tip toe to reach the container and Whoops!!! I tipped the container and spilled some water on the table and onto the floor. This was what happened when they came back.

September + October Update!

Yes I know its already toward the end of October and this update is seriously late but it can’t be helped. Daddy and Mommy were really busy in September due to work and other commitments (mainly bringing me out and suffering from exhaustion when chasing after me) to update my blog.

As you can already guess, I have developed lots of new skills yet again. At 16 months:

  1. I can tell a lie (yes at 15 months) with a straight face – you’ll see this in a video later
  2. I’m confident in feeding animals at the zoo
  3. I can walk very very fast
  4. Pose very well for the camera
  5. I can name all the vehicles on the road (bus, car, taxi, motorcycle, train, and truck! Though at this stage only mummy, daddy, and popo can really make out what I’m saying)
  6. I can relate that daddy works on an aeroplane by saying “dada” and pointing to a plane whenever I see one flying off (ok this is a bit of a stretch but mummy seems to think so)
  7. My vocabulary has increased dramatically - some new words include Door, bubbles (my first 2 syllable word), snow, Ye Ye, and Nai Nai.
  8. It now takes me less time to mess up a room, dig through a drawer, toss my toys all over the place, and get myself into all sorts of trouble!
  9. Learn to enjoy and eat my lunch and dinner slowly (so far my record is TWO hours to finish a meal)

Here are some of my latest photos! Enjoy!

 page1At the Zoo again! Here I am feeding some goats my stash of carrot sticks and leaves. Its very fun!

page2More pictures of me feeding some goats!

page3My new found skill! Smiling when I see a camera lens pointed at me! Daddy says that its great news that I’m no longer camera shy as its a prerequisite in modelling in case I don’t make it as a paediatrician so at least I have one career settled.

page5My first topless shoot (ok maybe not the first but definitely the nicest so far)

page6Damn! Caught trying to get out of the house and then smiling very innocently as soon as I realised somebody was watching me!

page7Oops! Caught again doing something naughty!

page13The Full Frontal!

page14Yes you already know.. the first 2 pics are me after being wrapped in a towel by mummy.. the rest were taken after daddy showed her how a man should wrap a towel around his body.

I Can Point to "A"!

I gave mummy and daddy a huge surprise last week. Suddenly I decided to show them that I knew my Alphabets! Well maybe not all of them but definitely some of them. How’d I do it? I simply walked over to a huge Robinsons Sale bag and pointed to the “A” in the word “SALE”.

For some reason this sparked off a huge debate between mummy and daddy. Mommy thinks that I’m on my way to becoming a true Singaporean and I’m on my way to learning the word “SALE” but daddy reckons that I’m on my way to learning the word “ALE” and becoming a true dude! All I’m really trying to do is to learn my 24 alphabets! Here’s a video of me showing off my linguistic and walking skills. Better get some running shoes mom and dad. I’ll be uncatchable in another two months! Enjoy!

My Recent Adventures!

So sorry I haven’t updated this blog in such a long time. But I’ve been very busy. Ever since I’ve started walking, Mommy and Daddy have been taking me out every weekend! We’ve been to the Zoo every week (Sometimes twice a week! Daddy says that we must get our money’s worth)! Mommy has been taking me to Universal Studios when daddy’s not around! We go there on Fridays and Saturdays after 7.00pm just to see the sights and sounds! And we’ve also been going to Toys ‘R’ Us.

Its really great to be walking. The view and air really is much better from this height (3 feet compared to the crawling 1.5 feet). Now instead of having to rely on someone to carry me around, I can go and investigate stuff by myself.. although I don’t know why mommy always seems to panic when she turns around to find out that I’ve gone off to play with the fan, or door hinge, or even the dining table. For some reason, everybody’s nervous when I’m walking around. First they can’t wait to get me to start walking then when I finally do, they start to fret.. Adults! Go figure!

Anyway here are some recent photos of my escapades!

Back to the Kids World at the Zoo!! Apparently this is also cousin Domi and Isaac’s favourite hang out at the Zoo!

Here I am posing with my favourite girl at the moment - mommy! Sorry daddy, sharing is caring and you gotta share!

Yoyoyo wuts up brudder!

Here I am about to go to sleep. For some reason I get happy high when I’m sleepy and that’s how mom and dad know that I’m tired. Daddy then reads me my favourite book (its Ladybird at the moment) and then rocks me to sleep.

Here I am at Universal Studios with Mommy’s family!

Kua Simi? Never seen a 14 month old read a book before?

Here’s some single shots of me in case you want to print them out. Daddy has mosaic–ed the bottom right picture cos he says I could be powerful political figure someday and dosen’t want anybody blackmailing me with nude photos.. what’s blackmail?

Liam's First Steps!!

Liam can now WALK!!

Liam took his very first step or rather steps ... on 27 July 2010. That’s 13th months and 2 weeks exactly! Right on schedule.

It was a gradual progress and we saw it coming. He started assisted walking at 10 months. From holding of 2 hands to gradually 1 hand and just the other day ... No assistance required!! That was when he took his first steps ...

We've concluded that he can walk for sure! All he requires is the courage to walk by himself.. and some motivation. Here's a video of Liam taking his first step or rather .. steps ... please don’t laugh at the motivation.. mommy wants him to be a neat boy and hey.. whatever it takes for him to walk right?

We're Now Friends of The Zoo!

Liam's Weekly Visit To The Zoo and His New Developments

Our little one is fascinated with animals. He loves everything about animals and the zoo. From the animal sounds they make to the animal shows. Whenever we ask, "Do you want to go to the zoo?" Liam says "YAH YAH" in his loudest voice. Everything esle is a "NO".

He started talking and expressing himself at 12.5 months. Its so much more fun now with Liam, he can tell us when he is hungry by saying 'Nan Nan' and points at his bottle. If we ask "Do you want some water?" He says "YES" or nods his head if he's thirsty. He is able to point at the bird, tree, aeroplane, moon, stars, sky, car, bus, taxi, cat, dog, and many others whenever we ask him to.

He can now make animals sounds like :

Sheep = "Bah bah"
Cat = "Mow" instead of Meow
Dog = "Wow Wow"
Snake = "Hiss hiss"
Lion = "Roarrrrrrrrrrr"
Cow = “Mooo”

and many many other surprises!!

We're amazed with his sudden new developments! Looks like our daily teaching of flashcards, reading of books, constant talking and pointing out to new things are starting to bear fruit.

Here are some pictures of Liam at the zoo.

Welcome to the Zoo! Here’s Liam all excited. For some reason, he finds this Emu extremely amusing especially when it bends over to pick at its food.

Baby touch time! This is as real as it gets!

Colour coded with Daddy.

Here we are at Kids World!

Ok this is not the zoo.. But we’re putting these here anyway. We're actually at Bedok Jetty.

Here's a video of him responding to questions we ask :

Happy Birthday Liam!!

Liam turns 1 today …

Hello everyone! I am now One Year Old!! Mummy and Daddy had been planning this for months! From finding the right place to getting the invite list up and even buying a toy to put on my cake.

Now I don’t know if you know this but I normally take a nap between 11am to 1pm (right in the middle of my own party, which according to the adults, is unacceptable) so mummy and daddy created this master plan to force me to wake up by 6.00am (who gets up at 6.00am anyway?) and whisk me to Poh Poh’s house for breakfast and then nap again from 9-11am while they go to the Swimming Club to do the final prep. But guess who overslept on Sunday Morning and forgot to wake me up? So much for Plan A. We went to Plan B i.e. rush to wake me up, rush to get out of the house, rush to Poh Poh house, Deposit Baby (after leaving instructions that he must eat, shower, drink milk and be asleep in 20 mins!), then rush to club to do final prep.

In the end, everything worked out well and I got to the club in time to receive my presents guests. Anyway here are the pics!

The night before – Mummy and Daddy, together with Yi Yi Bernice and Uncle Ivan helping to set up the room. I only came down later to inspect the premises and make sure everything is up to my standard.page 1

Actual day! Check out the Birthday Cake! Mommy spent many months trying to find the perfect cake before deciding on this one. It lasted for approximately two happy birthday songs before I got my finger on it!

Mummy was actually worried that the candles wouldn’t light up. I was more concerned about how I was going to blow all of them off in one biiiiiig breath!

Here’s a close up!

These are my Ye Ye, Nai Nai, Gong Gong and Poh Poh (no.. not the one in the black flower dress)

Group Photo time – everybody wants to take a picture with me

Shots with Mummy and Daddy! Mummu and Daddy later told me that the party felt like a mini Wedding Party. I.e. They had no idea what happened after everything was over and they had no time to eat!

These are my guests!

And more guests!

And here’s some more!! (you can tell from all these pictures that I’m pretty popular)

I had my own special guests to entertain. Here I am showing Kor Kor Domi how to operate my ice-cream truck. In the lower pic I’m doing my best to help Gu Ma wake baby Sara.
bday1

Me on my Ice Cream Truck doing my ceremonial celebrity wave at my guests.

Cousin Domi and I having an exchange about which Mickey Mouse Character is the cutest. Here I am about to bop him on the head because we cannot come to a consensus (Toddler Diplomacy).

And these are my pressies!!! I love all of them! Thank you very much! Daddy says I must also thank all the Uncles and Aunties who gave me Red Packets and Vouchers (actually I think daddy should thank them instead of me cos this is all going to help him pay for my college fund)

Look at my fleet of rides. Umm these are available for rent by the way – We have Four Wheelers, Trikes, Convertibles, and even an Excavator all at a very reasonable hourly rate. Call my agent (daddy) if you are interested. We can arrange for door-to-door delivery.

More close up shots of my rides. Please feel free to drop by for a trial ride. But do call before coming as some rides may be out on rental and you may be disappointed.

Thank you everyone! I now have heaps of new clothes, books, and toys and I love them all!! Thank you all for coming to my birthday and making it a memorable one.
